Keywords:
Maqasid al-Fiqh, Justice, Maslahah, Islamic JurisprudenceAbstract
The concept of Maqasid al-Fiqh (Objectives of Islamic Jurisprudence) represents a dynamic and purposive approach to Islamic law, emphasizing justice (‘adl) and public welfare (maslahah). This study explores how the theory of maqasid redefines classical jurisprudence to meet modern legal and ethical challenges. It highlights the evolution of maqasid from early jurists like Al-Juwayni and Al-Ghazali to contemporary scholars who apply it in human rights, governance, and social justice. By analyzing the relationship between maqasid and the principles of ijtihad and qiyas, the article provides a framework for understanding the balance between divine command and rational utility in the Islamic legal system.
